Afarensis has left the building

Afarensis – one of my favorite anthropology/paleoanthropology blogs – is no more. Afarensis’ final post is a cryptic message that s/he will no longer be writing for Scienceblogs due to circumstances beyond control. There is no indication of a switch to a new host – so I’m assuming Afarensis really has ‘left the building‘.

I’m sorry to see this blog end. Afarensis was a good source of current news in anthropology – often providing perceptive commentary on these stories. S/he started at Scienceblogs in March 2006 and wrote over 1800 posts. Some of the best were part of the Know Your Primate series. Each post in this series was short, but packed with photographs and interesting information. The comments in this series and in many of Afarensis’ other posts often added valuable insight from other researchers and interested individuals. It was a fun blog to read, in part, because Afarensis attracted such enthusiastic followers.

Update – Afarensis has been spotted. See comments.

  2. Yup. I probably won’t be blogging as much but I do plan on continuing. Thank you for the kind words.
